  5. Just like you all, looking forward to see you all to work together and sharing ideas.
I was very busy with my schoolwork and especially with the preparation of a talk and poster for the First BeNeLux Polar Early Career Scientists Symposium. It was great being there as the only teacher between all the young scientists. They and the keynote speakers (one of them was the enthusiastic José Xavier) were all very impressed of what I did at school, involving polar science and climate change. Poster/talk-title was 'Climate crisis: do something about it!' They said I gave them inspiration.
It would have been the same with what you all do in your school and country.
I think we are all examples of not being a ‘common’ teacher, with all respect to other teachers, but you all know what I mean. I don’t have to tell you that it takes a lot of energy but sharing our ideas and get recognition gives us courage to go on.
We all work on polar science with a different angle and such a cosy workshop (with not to many people) can lead to great achievements because we all will learn from each other.

    1. What a nice letter, Wim! I am so excited about the Conference, and yes, it is a good opportunity to learn from each other. Congratulations on all you have done! Will you be taking your poster to the Workshop? It sounds terrific! See you in a few months!

    3. I will bring my poster and discuss it with you. So nice ,Janet and Patricia, that we will see each other in March. Btw, I got the award of best poster, chosen by the scientists and keynote speakers.
I think it would be a good idea that we present briefly each what we do at our school. Let’s say max. 8-10 minutes. It could be a good base to start on. I already suggested this in the opening mail to Inga and Josée. Josée said we had to do this for sure after my presentation at APECS-BENELUX in Ghent.

  6. Does anyone have any suggestions of hotels to use in Lisbon (for 2 or 3 days before the conference - something close to the train station maybe?) and something also that I can reserve for when I am in Coimbra?
